The Rise of Tere Bin: How This TV Drama Became the Talk of the Town!

– DIVA

Pakistani dramas are the backbone of the entertainment industry, and it is no surprise that they continue to keep people glued to their screens, throughout the day – wherever in the world they may be. If that’s not enough, you’re ought to find countless fans making sure the internet hears all about them too. One example of such fandom has seen a gargantuan rise recently, with the most popular show on television right now, Tere Bin!

28 episodes in, the entertaining, gritty, and downright guilty-pleasure of a show starring Wahaj Ali and Yumna Zaidi has showcased just about every emotion one would expect with a Pakistani drama and there seems to be no slowing it down!

So, what makes this 7th Sky Entertainment drama by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi such a fan favourite at the moment? Diva explores…

The Story

We’ve seen an array of Pakistani dramas that have played with the idea of opposites attracting, but rarely have they experimented the way Tere Bin has in using that concept and elevating it! When we see Meerab and Murtasim (Yumna and Wahaj, respectively), we don’t see just another story about egos clashing, but instead we see budding romance and a progress into understanding each other in an environment set to bring them head-to-head in one way or another! It truly is rare to find a drama that is so committed to the narrative that it has created, which makes Tere Bin really stand out of the crowd at the moment.

The Global Obsession

By now we know Pakistani dramas not only have the ability to really break all bounds in the country when it comes to ratings, but also in becoming mega-viral across the globe! Tere Bin has just taken that a notch even further and has left all of its competition way behind in the dust. If you don’t believe us saying it, the numbers are reasons enough to accept that! The TV drama has trended in India at the number one position. Now, imagine when your neighbouring country of 2 billion people can’t stop watching your show, what doubt is left there about its popularity?

The Chemistry

Anyone who’s know anything about TV, knows that the lead couple makes or breaks the story. You could do everything right, but if you don’t have the perfect stars headlining the show and making their presence with each other count, you won’t be able to make it a hit amongst fans. That’s where Tere Bin stands out as a true victor. Yumna Zaidi and Wahaj Ali have come across to be two of the most perfectly-cast actors for the drama, and their chemistry is downright remarkable. Whether it is Wahaj’s brooding take on Murtasim or Yumna’s take on how Meerab should be, each intricate nuance has come through beautifully!

The Hope For A Happy Ending

We’re all suckers for a happy ending and there’s absolutely no denying that. Which is why with Tere Bin, the whole fan base continues to be at the edge of their seat each episode in the hope that they would slowly see Meerab and Murtasim slowly turning towards each other. We all can see the ego between the two being a major wedge, but we can all wish and pray that they see how there’s love under all that facade of hate! One could really hope that love is in the offing and the journey towards the end brings them closer!

The Value of Production

Time and again we have pointed that great production value really amps up a show, and we can’t be more right when we see dramas like Tere Bin! Not only is the narrative of the show entertaining enough for fans to keep on talking about it, but the fact that the whole drama looks and feels so real that makes it such an experience! We for one, really do feel we are living in Murtasim’s world, where traditional values and egos all come crashing one gripping moment at a time. Kudos to the space created by the team at 7th Sky Entertainment – including the director, Siraj Ul Haq, and writer, Nooran Makhdoom, because truly, an immersive experience is what we feel has been the secret behind the success of this one!
